Best time to visit Kerala
There is no single perfect month. There is a comfortable season, a monsoon season, and a few months in between that work if you pick the right district.
October to March - the first-timer window
This is when we send most new travellers. Days are dry, evenings in Munnar are cool, and houseboats run a full daily cruise. December and early January are busiest - book stays earlier. February and March are still excellent and a little quieter.
April and May - warmer, still workable
The coast is hot. The hills are still pleasant. If you can stay in Munnar or Wayanad and keep Alleppey to one night with a pool at the resort, this window is fine. Prices ease after the New Year rush.
June to September - monsoon
Kerala turns a deeper green. Waterfalls in Wayanad and the cardamom hills are the point. Houseboats still operate, with shorter cruises on heavy-rain days. We only recommend monsoon if you like rain and do not have your heart set on a beach swim in Varkala.
A simple rule
- First Kerala holiday, hills + houseboat: October to March
- Honeymoon with a beach finish: November to February
- Families who want value and fewer crowds: late January to March, or July if you accept rain
- Pickup is almost always Kochi (COK) unless we are doing Wayanad from Calicut
If you already have dates, message us on WhatsApp. We will say honestly whether those dates suit Munnar, Alleppey, Wayanad or a beach finish.
